H&M opens a new store in Shibuya

Swedish retailer of trendy and low-cost clothing H&M today opened the doors of a new multi-level store in Shibuya. H&M also has other locations in the city but this is the first one right in the heart of fashion crazy Shibuya.

The grand opening of the 4 floors tall store was at 10 o’clock and as you can imagine there was a whole army of enthusiastic shoppers waiting in line a few hours before. The first 500 people got treated by gift cards in the value of ¥1000 and ¥5000.

It’s not surprising that in this time of planetary economic crisis stores like H&M have better success than ever-greedy retailers of prestigious brands with inflated prices that are now forced into closure of excess stores around the world.

Here’s a couple of photos I took before the opening:

Waiting in line, like for a David Hasselhoff concert.

The new store is located at the foot of the Dogenzaka Hill, about 5 minutes from Shibuya Station, and will be open daily from 10:00 to 21:00. The address: 東京都渋谷区宇田川町33-6
