Ropid: new cool humanoid robot with high mobility

Japanese robot maker Robo Garage Co., Kyoto University’s venture firm, last week introduced their new creation: a small flexible robot named Ropid that has ability of quickly running around and jumping about 8 cm high which is currently the world record among biped humanoid robots.

Ropid is 38 cm tall, weighs 1600 grams, and is made of carbon and plastics. It even has a voice recognition system built in its head, so he can recognize commands. The robot was developed by Tomotaka Takahashi within a period of two years and a half.
