For the purpose of promoting the country and to help foreign readers better understand Japan today, the Japanese Government publishes a monthly online magazine called Highlighting JAPAN.
The contents are very diverse and informative. You’ll find a nice variety of topics such as current issues, science, technology, fashion, society, environment, culture, design and other things related to Japan.
The magazine is free and you can read it inside your browser via Flash or you can download each issue as a PDF file. It’s only available in English.
