The beginning of a new year is always a time for something new. Starting this Sunday and until March, the popular Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun will include one page with 3D photos that readers will be able to see using special paper 3D glasses that were packed into one of the previous issues.
The photos will tell the “story of Japan” through pictures of various events and moments from all parts of the country.
What surprises us is that these photos — when seen without the 3D glasses — look completely ordinary without the usual red/green shift or any similar distortion. The shift that turns a picture into 3D, is created in the brain once the glasses are put on. A bit different concept than we’re used to when it comes to 3D.
