Chiba monorail tickets featuring hit anime series selling like hotcakes

Japanese rail operator Chiba Urban Monorail has recently teamed up with the hit anime series Ore No Imouto (俺の妹がこんなに可愛いわけがない) to offer special edition train tickets.

As expected, hundreds of fans arrived in early morning hours to wait in long queues for the tickets which feature characters from the anime. There was no limit on the amount of tickets one person could purchase.

According to the monorail website, due to the extremely high demand all tickets have been sold out on May 14th. However, at this time they are still accepting online orders.

The reason for the euphoria? The monorail appears in various scenes in the anime which is primarily set in Chiba, the area right next to Tokyo. Below are some scenes based on actual locations:

The Chiba Urban Monorail, which began service in 1988 and currently gets over 45,000 daily boardings, holds the world record for the longest suspended monorail system at 15.2 km (9.45 miles) in total track length.
